Matthew Maynard

Ally, Kent County Ontario settler heritage, community connector

Matthew first became involved with the Indigenous community in London Ontario during the 1990s. He is grateful for the knowledge shared by elders and knowledge carriers around the medicine wheel and for the opportunities to participate in ceremony and sweat lodges. Matthew in his community work through AIDs and HIV support throughout Ontario included Indigenous programs with AIDs Service Organizations, support and advocacy while at the Local Community Centre in Stratford Ontario, and while working in British Columbia at Zajac Ranch for Children building partnerships with neighbouring indigenous communities.

Matthew in 2017 made a personal commitment and action plan for the Truth and Reconciliation Commission 94 Calls to Action. This directly and indirectly led to new friendships, new work opportunities and to being involved in the formation of Kaswentha/ Two Row Now.
